MANILA: The Philippine Tennis Association has designated Davis Cup Team Manager Jean Henri Lhuillier as the country's team manager of the men's and women's squads for the Southeast Asian Games in November, 2005.
"We are very glad to have on board someone who knows how to inspire the players," Philta president Manuel Misa said.
"Jean Henri is familiar with such challenges," said Philta secretary general Raymond Suarez. "He has been team manager of our most recent Davis Cup teams. The boys know him and respect him."
Lhuillier, who played competitively in the club circuit in the United States during his school days, staged the four-legged Cebuana Lhuillier Tennis Circuit in 2003 which offered the largest pot money in recent years.
In accepting his appointment, Lhuillier said he is always honored to be part of Team Philippines. "I know that the members of our Team Philippines are preparing well."
