ITS TRAINING PLAN COMPONENTS
The five main components of the ITS Development
Plan are:
- Long term training plan
- Annual training plan
- Multi-week training module
- Weekly training routine
- Daily training sessions
The ITS System long-term plan...
is the most important requirement for achieving the goals and objectives of the program. A program over several years on a five-year period will increase the efficiency of preparing athletes for competition.
The plan is designed to outline methodically the training process for the four basic stages of player development:
- Preparatory stage: 7-10 yrs old
- All-around stage: 11-14 yrs old
- Tennis specific stage: 15 - 16 yrs old
- Performance stage: 17-18
Important Note :
A player's preparation is divided into stages from the point of view of objectives and training content with regard to age and peculiarities.
"Age consideration must not be a decisive factor since some athletes are far ahead of others in development and performance growth. Conversely, some young athletes who develop slowly catch up at a later period and achieve excellent results. Calendar age is not always an accurate indicator of development."
The plan is based on thorough analysis of technical, tactical, psychological and physiological characteristics of the game and on predicting the level of performance over approximately five to ten years. This will assure that young talented players will reach their true playing potential
The ITS Plan's Yearly Components are as follows:
- Objectives of training activity:
- number of training units;
- number of training hours.
- Main targets:
- overall training volume;
- overall training load;
- training intensity.
- Performance objective:
- reaching for set goals in competition
- achievement of a particular ranking
- Testing dates:
- physical fitness;
- tennis-specific abilities;
- competitive readiness.
- Schedule of competition
- club and local community;
- regional and national;
- international.
- Timing of performance
- performance peaks
- transition periods;
- preparation periods.
- Dates for medical check-ups
- Financial requirements for periods of:
- preparation;
- competition;
- transition.
The most important factor in the progress of an athlete's performance is his or her willingness to identify and choose personal goals to achieve in a certain period of time. It requires discipline, diligent work and personal sacrifices and most of all enthusiasm.
